Project Details
As part of the Department of Defence initiative to hand back the Moorebank Precinct to the NSW State Government as part of the new intermodal project and the consolidation of defence facilities back into the Holsworthy Barrack, Bermagui Constructions where engaged to demolish an existing sewerage treatment plant, transforming the area to one of enhanced environmental value and as a carbon off set.
Bermagui Constructions transformed the area by designing and constructing the conversion of the evaporation ponds into wetland areas. Wetlands are considered to the second most valuable ecological environment available. The wetlands were constructed to provide or bird life sanctuaries and nesting was taken up by black swans prior to the works being complete.
The works have set the benchmark for the remediation of redundant defence estates.
